He was a life member of Henry Mosher Post 638 American Legion in Falconer and was a member of their Firing Squad and Color Guard. He was also a member of Chautauqua County 40/8 Voiture 446 40 ET 8; John W Tifany Post 53 Veterans of Foregn Wars; Chautauqua County Color Guard; and Chautauqua County Joint Veterans Council. He held many positions in the various veterans organisations of which he was a member. Jim was a past member of War Vets Recreation in Fluvanna and the loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1681. For many years he played Basketball in the area, and bowled for many leagues. or 28 years, Jim was a member of Chautauqua County Area Umpires Association and was included into the Chautauqua County Umpire Hall of Fame.
Jim was profiled in Rolland Kidders book, A Hometown Went to War, for his World War II memoirs.
