Member of the House of Representatives of the Senate of the Council of New Hampshire. Filled the office of Selectman and Assessor.
On the Committee of Safety during the last war with Great Britain.

President of the New Hampshire Union Bank for 11 years and one of the Trustees of the Portsmouth Savings Bank.

Hero of the great fire of Portsmouth in 1713. He saved the records of the town in a wooden chest in the Town Clerk's office.
