[Janie] DOB as ABT 1749
[Dale Runge] Place of Birth either Boston or Scotland in 1736. Scotland ref from Pearlman's "The Melting Pot" [Los Angeles City Main Library]
1746-1817 Served as Corporal and Sargeant in Captain Webb's Company, Col. John Durkee's Conn. Rget. His widow was pensioned 1838 in Chautauqua Cty, NY.
[Jean R Pearman]
In addition to East Hartford, CT, other places of residence were apparently Norwich, Franklin and Westminster, CT.
His birthdate is confused by conflicting military records. There is always the possibility that it was two Richards. The diary of Lieut. Samuel Thompson listed a Richard Penhollow, Private, age 22, on 27 March 1759. This could mean he was born 1736/37. But in the Revolutionary war a Richard Penhollow was on the roster of Nathaniel Webb's company on 7 APril 1777. He was listed a Corporal, age 30, and a farmer from Norwich.CT. Norwich was Sgt.Penhollow's place of residence at the time of enlistment and for several years after the war ended, but there is no supporting evidence that he was born there in 1747.
